P38: Antropologia e letteratura di mondi incerti  

Le crisi contemporanee, con le loro radici vecchie e nuove, generano paure di un collasso sociale e sensazioni di incertezza che scalfiscono ogni presunzione di avere superato, o risolto, la questione della fragilità umana. Di fronte a ciò, antropologia e letteratura convergono come strumenti, approcci o prospettive per intercettare le dissonanze dei mondi imprevedibili in gestazione nel futuro. Entrambe si interrogano sul significato del vero e del plausibile e si interessano alla soggettività mutevole di attori, soggetti e osservatori della storia en train de se faire. Hanno anche in comune l’atto narrativo e la sua capacità di creare ponti tra la realtà sociale e la finzione, di evocare le tensioni crescenti tra l’intimo e il collettivo, di parlare di ancoraggio nel mondo e di fuga, di alternare riflessività ed empatia, di convocare esperienze eroiche di sopravvivenza e racconti di resistenza. L’air du temps, poi, fa sì che quella che potrebbe sembrare un’opposizione sia in realtà una convergenza: quella tra le narrazioni nostalgiche, crepuscolari e perfino distopiche e apocalittiche da una parte, e la retorica romantica, utopica della ricerca dell’autenticità perduta dall’altra. Per comprendere l’affinità tra antropologia e letteratura per cogliere il presente, ma anche i loro eventuali limiti per costruire il futuro, il panel propone di articolare i due termini con un terzo: quello di “politica”, intesa come atto che lega l’immaginario alla pratica della costruzione o della trasformazione del reale.
Questo panel intende dunque esplorare le possibilità di rinnovare la nostra visione della realtà attraverso una serie di descrizioni dell’incertezza del presente e di proiezioni nei mondi di dopo, interrogando il legame tra immaginazione, narrazione e trasformazione. Incoraggerà sia riflessioni sulle proprie esperienze di scrittura sia sperimentazioni di scritture etnografiche e narrative.

With their old and new roots, contemporary crises generate fears of social collapse and feelings of uncertainty that undermine any presumption of having overcome, or resolved, the question of human fragility. Facing this, anthropology and literature converge as tools, approaches or perspectives to intercept the dissonances of unpredictable worlds gestating in the future. Both question the meaning of the true and the plausible and are interested in the changing subjectivity of actors, subjects and observers of history in the making. They also have in common the narrative act and its capacity to build bridges between social reality and fiction, to evoke the growing tensions between the intimate and the collective, to speak of anchoring in the world and of escape, to alternate reflexivity and empathy, to summon heroic experiences of survival and tales of resistance. L’air du temps, then, makes what might seem to be an opposition actually a convergence: the one between nostalgic, crepuscular and even dystopian and apocalyptic narratives on the one hand, and the romantic, utopian rhetoric of the search for lost authenticity on the other. In order to understand the affinity between anthropology and literature in order to grasp the present, but also their possible limits in building the future, the panel proposes to articulate the two terms with a third one: that of “politics”, understood as an act that links the imaginary to the practice of constructing or transforming the real.
This panel therefore aims to explore the possibilities of renewing our vision of reality through a series of descriptions of the uncertainty of the present and projections into the worlds of the future, questioning the link between imagination, narrative and transformation. It will encourage both reflections on one’s own writing experiences and the showing of experimental ethnographical and narrative writings.
